A woman, identified in court documents as Jane Doe 4, has officially joined a class-action lawsuit against Elon Musk’s xAI. The litigation, originally initiated by three Tennessee teenagers, centers on allegations that the company’s AI chatbot, Grok, has been instrumental in the generation of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Allegations of Severe Misuse

According to reports from The Washington Post, the plaintiff alleges that her stepfather utilized Grok to manipulate a photograph from her childhood—taken when she was just 11 years old—to produce over 7,000 explicit images. Following a law enforcement raid that uncovered the illicit content, the stepfather was found dead by suicide just two days later.

“Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly,” the woman stated. “It is taking everyday life and turning it into child sexual abuse.”

The Core of the Lawsuit

The plaintiffs contend that xAI failed to implement fundamental safety guardrails to prevent its technology from generating non-consensual sexualized imagery of real individuals, including minors. Earlier this year, the platform X faced significant scrutiny as it was inundated with millions of AI-generated explicit images.
