Connect more of your apps to Search

July 16, 2026 | By Chips Mistry, Senior Product Manager, and Biharck Araújo, Engineering Lead, Search

Google is significantly expanding the utility of its AI-powered search experience. Building upon the existing ability to link select services to the Gemini app, the company is now rolling out direct app integrations within AI Mode in Search. This update, which begins its U.S. rollout this week, aims to bridge the gap between AI-driven discovery and actionable task completion.

Streamlining Your Digital Workflow

The core objective of this update is to transform Search from a passive information tool into an active workspace. By securely linking your preferred third-party services, you can move from planning to execution without switching between multiple tabs or applications.

"With Personal Intelligence and your connected apps, Search can give even more tailored responses," note the product team.

Real-World Use Cases

To illustrate how these integrations function, Google highlighted several practical scenarios:

  • Grocery Shopping: If you are using AI Mode to generate a barbecue shopping list, you can now connect Instacart. This allows you to push ingredients directly into your Instacart cart and finalize your purchase with minimal effort.
  • Creative Design: Users working on visual projects can prompt AI Mode to retrieve design templates directly from Canva, streamlining the creation process for flyers or presentations.
  • Entertainment: Planning an event is easier when you can curate a soundtrack. You can now ask AI Mode to build a playlist and instantly save it to YouTube Music, allowing you to start your party immediately.

Looking Ahead

This launch represents the first step in a broader initiative to make Search a more cohesive hub for your digital life. Google has confirmed it is actively collaborating with a diverse range of partners to expand the ecosystem of supported applications.

Users can explore these new capabilities by navigating to AI Mode in their Search interface today. As the rollout continues, expect to see a growing list of services that allow for a more personalized and efficient search experience.
