Built in Fort Worth: Wistron Opens Advanced Manufacturing Plant to Produce NVIDIA AI Systems

The global transition into the era of artificial intelligence is fundamentally dependent on robust infrastructure. While much of the conversation surrounding AI focuses on software and algorithms, the physical reality of this revolution is being forged in Texas. Today, Wistron officially inaugurated its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, a massive 324,000-square-foot greenfield plant dedicated to producing the high-performance superchips that power the world’s most sophisticated AI systems.

The grand opening ceremony brought together a high-profile assembly of Wistron executives, Taiwanese government officials, and local Fort Worth leadership. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang joined Wistron Chairman Simon Lin on stage to discuss the strategic importance of establishing a domestic manufacturing base for the AI age.

Scaling Production for the AI Revolution

The new facility, designated as Wistron’s D1 plant, is currently operating two primary manufacturing cells. One is dedicated to the production of the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, while the second is primed for the upcoming NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip. The company is aggressively scaling operations, with plans to manufacture tens of thousands of these advanced boards every month by the end of the year.

Building AI at this scale requires more than just silicon and code; it demands a sophisticated ecosystem of supply chains, specialized factories, and a highly skilled workforce. The Fort Worth site serves as the physical manifestation of this capacity.

A $700 Million Investment in American Jobs

The state-of-the-art facility represents a $700 million capital commitment to advanced domestic manufacturing. The plant has already generated over 500 new jobs, with projections to double that headcount to 1,000 employees by the close of the year.

1. Validate complex assembly line layouts. 2. Optimize production workflows for maximum efficiency. 3. Train personnel on standard operating procedures in a virtual environment before the physical factory was even operational.

Winning at Every Layer of the Stack

For NVIDIA and Wistron, the AI era is not merely about the chips themselves, but about mastering every layer of the technology stack—from the semiconductor level to the massive systems that house them, and finally to the "AI factories" that produce them.

Huang emphasized that these facilities are the new bedrock of modern society. "Just as agriculture is a fundamental infrastructure of society, in the future these AI factories will be a fundamental infrastructure of society," he noted. "Electricity comes in, and the tokens get generated in the factories."

During the event, Huang unveiled and signed the first NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip produced at the site. He described the resulting supercomputer as the most powerful in the world, noting that it contains 1.5 million parts, weighs two tons, and carries a value of $4 million.

"We’re producing them like phones, right here in Wistron, cranking them out in volume because the world needs all of these machines to drive the intelligence infrastructure," Huang added.

As Wistron’s Fort Worth plant comes online, it signals a new chapter for American manufacturing. By strengthening domestic supply chains and fostering high-skilled employment, the project ensures that American communities are at the forefront of building the future of intelligence.
